January is School Board Recognition month. Take this opportunity to help acknowledge thousands of public servants who make the time to share their vision and voice about the future of Texas children. A special thanks to our board members: Pres. Jason Lewis, V. Pres. Kay McKee, Secretary Tana Lusty, Sally Gossett, Grant Appleton, Rennie Mann, and Cade Martin.
Parent involvement is critically important in the education of children of all ages, from newborns through high school age and beyond. We know that parents—and what they do or don't do at home—makes a huge difference in their child’s reading ability, in their attitudes toward learning, in the development of socially responsible behaviors and values, in children's performance on standardized test scores, in students' likelihood of graduating from high school, and much more. School teachers and staff at Richland Springs must continually try to engage all parents in the education of their children because we know parents, students, and Richland Springs’ school benefits when children and schoolwork are supported at home. Contact your child’s teacher and get involved in their education today. Your help and support are needed and appreciated.
The San Saba County Stock Show will begin Friday, January 12th. Shawn Dennis says Richland Springs should be well represented in this year’s stock show, both in quality of animals and the number of participants. There will be an early release at 12:52 on Thursday, January 11, 2018, with no school on the 12th to show district support of the San Saba County Livestock Show. Everyone is invited to the San Saba County Stock Show at the Show Barn, and the Youth Fair at the Civic Center to view student entries in this year’s event. Mr. Dennis reminds all exhibitors that fresh water and feed is important for all show animals during extremely cold weather. Contact Mr. Dennis for assistance with your stock animals as needed.
January 4th was the beginning of the second semester. Junior high and high school students should receive report cards in the mail this week. Call the school if you do not receive your child’s report card.
It’s great to see our community supporting students in their efforts to achieve. We have a great community, students, teachers and staff. It takes everyone working together to achieve success. It looks to be a great year at Richland Springs.
A Happy and Prosperous 2018 to you and yours.
