The 2017-2018 school year at Richland Springs began last Monday. Thanks to the teachers and staff and students, we had a great first week of school. Student enrollment for the first day was 120 students. Please urge your child to be at school each and every day. This year we have an 8 period day. The school day starts at 8:00 and ends at 3:31. Please drive slowly through campus when picking-up or dropping off schoolchildren.
Parents of students (and students) in grades 7-12 are urged to sign drug test permission forms and return them to school as soon as possible. The only way the school can test students with a urinalysis is with both student and parent permission. Contact the principal’s office if you need any further information. Help keep our students drug free!
Accountability ratings have been released by the Texas Education Agency. Richland Springs ISD has received Met Standard. This communication is to transmit the school district’s School FIRST (Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas) rating. Senate Bill (SB) 218 of the 77th Legislature (2001) authorized the implementation of a financial accountability rating system, which is officially referred to as School FIRST. The primary goal of School FIRST is to improve the management of school districts' financial resources. Richland Springs ISD received a School First rating of Superior Achievement.
Thanks to the leadership from the varsity cheerleaders under the direction of Pam Starr, spirit is high at school. The varsity Coyotes scrimmaged Zephyr at Coyote Stadium last Friday night. The Coyotes looked solid on both offense and defense. There will be a junior varsity team this year. The varsity Coyotes will scrimmage Abbott at Abbott Field this Thursday night.
Student success and safety are first and foremost at Richland Springs.
Community involvement is the key to our success!
