February 16th is the end of the fourth six-weeks grading period. It’s hard to believe that this school year is two-thirds complete.  Please look for student report cards next week. If you do not receive a report card, please ask your child, or call the school at 452-3427. It’s been a great school year, and great six-weeks with fewer discipline referrals.

Patsy Hall is preparing students for the UIL one act play contests.  Rehearsals are ongoing for this year’s play, Macbeth. The cast and crew of Macbeth traveled to Bangs last Saturday and participated in their second clinic and received valuable feedback.    Richland Springs is hosting a one act play clinic on Wednesday, February 22nd, critiqued by clinician Kris Andrews. The cast and crew are busy preparing for their third critiqued performance on Wednesday, February 22nd. Break a leg!

The high school varsity boys are now in sole possession of first place in the District 16 race with a victory over the Cherokee Indians last Friday night. The varsity boys finished the regular season with a victory at Paint Rock and are District Champions with a 12-2 record. The varsity boys are the first seed in the district. First seed entitles the Varsity Coyotes to a bye in the first round of the playoffs.

The high school varsity girls finished the district race with a 13-1 record. The Lady Coyotes are District Champs. The Lady Coyotes are the first seed in the district. First seed entitles the Lady Coyotes to a bye in the first round of the playoffs. The Lady Coyotes will play the winner of this Monday’s Aspermont/Blackwell game in the Area Round on Friday, February 17th at a location TBA. Everyone enjoyed watching all the high school basketball players on the floor this year. Thanks to Coach Tipton and Coach Rogers, and all the athletes for another great year of basketball. Good luck to the varsity boys and the varsity girls in the play-off rounds.

As basketball continues into the playoffs, track and golf also begin. The first varsity track meet is tentatively scheduled for March 2nd. The first golf tournaments are at Mason (Feb. 20-boys and Feb. 22-girls). I hope the spring weather will cooperate.

STAAR testing begins March 28th. Students in grades 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, and 10 test during the week of March 28th. We need 100% attendance!
