Coyote Pride

The first round of STAAR testing begins in just 36 school days on March 28th. Students in grades 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 and 10 will begin testing. Students in grades 4 and 7 will take the writing test. Students in grades 5 and 8 will take the Reading and Math tests. Students in grades 9 and 10 will take the combined ELA Reading and Writing test.

Patsy Hall is preparing students for the UIL one act play contest. Elisabeth Johnson is assistant director. Rehearsals are ongoing for this year’s play, Macbeth.

Boys’ junior high basketball coach Jerry Burkhart and the jh boys’ basketball team finished the season lasts week and were 10-0 on the season.  Girls’ junior high basketball coach Shawn Rogers and the jh girls’ basketball team were 6-4 on the season. Both groups of junior high students have excellent athletes that will move into high school next year and will be great additions to the boys’ and girls’ high school basketball programs next year.  

Girls’ Varsity basketball coach Shawn Rogers and the Lady Coyotes are district champions and have a bye in the first round of the playoffs. Boys’ varsity basketball coach Thomas Tipton and the varsity boys’ have 2 losses in district play and control their own destiny in making the playoffs. Come out and support our young athletes in UIL competition.

Senior basketball players are recognized each year at the last home game. This Tuesday night was Senior Night at Coyote Gym. Seniors recognized were Jordan Gossett, Jeremy Martin, Cody Pardy and Shayna Underwood. Our seniors have provided great leadership throughout the year.

It’s great to see our community supporting students in their efforts to achieve. We have a great community, students, teachers and staff. It takes everyone working together to achieve success.
