January is School Board Appreciation month in Texas. School board members donate countless hours of their time — preparing for meetings, attending meetings, and supporting school-related functions and events. School board members are volunteers, receiving no pay for the work they do to help our school district. We owe them a debt of gratitude for their willingness to serve. Three sitting board members terms are ending this May- Jason Lewis, Sally Gossett & Steven Tharp. Candidates for school board elections have deadlines they must adhere to in order secure a place on the ballot. Wednesday, January 18, 2017 was the first day to file an application for a place on the ballot. 5:00 PM, Friday, February 17, 2017 is the candidate filing deadline for placement on the ballot. The school board election will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017. Contact Linda Morris in the Central Office for more information.
